Admissions Volunteers

Overview

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions relies on a strong volunteer network to assist with recruitment efforts throughout the world. Through our Notre Dame Clubs and Alumni Groups, admissions volunteers share their enthusiasm and knowledge of Notre Dame to help personalize the admissions process for prospective and admitted students. Notre Dame Clubs can nominate members to become an Admission Volunteer Coordinator (AVC) while Notre Dame Alumni Groups can nominate members to become a Student Recruitment Director. Notre Dame Clubs and Alumni Groups may also nominate additional members to serve as Outreach Volunteers.

Responsibilities

Admissions Volunteer Coordinators (AVC) are nominated from Notre Dame Club leadership and approved by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. We prefer that the nominee be an active member of a Notre Dame Club. AVCs manage the club's efforts in attending college fairs, contacting admitted students, and helping to identify prospective students. AVCs are asked to serve for a period of one year and will be asked to renew their commitment to the position.

Student Recruitment Directors (SRD) are nominated from Notre Dame Alumni Groups and approved by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. SRDs manage an alumni group's efforts in contacting admitted students while aligning their recruitment efforts with our Notre Dame Clubs.

Both AVCs and SRDs may recruit and train Outreach Volunteers to assist them in their recruitment and yield efforts throughout the year. Outreach Volunteers help represent Notre Dame at college fairs and communicate with admitted students, as assigned. They may also assist admissions staff members with in-person recruitment and yield events, such as ND on the Road events or Rally on the Road events.

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will annually review the recruitment and yield activities of admissions volunteers. Please review the responsibilities page for more information.

Training

We want to make sure our volunteers are fully equipped with the knowledge and resources needed to be successful in their roles. Our Volunteer Resources webpage features links to a variety of topics that will prepare you for interacting with prospective students and parents. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions, in partnership with the Notre Dame Alumni Association, also hosts webinars throughout the year to provide up-to-date training for our volunteers. Webinar recordings and presentations are available here.

How to Volunteer

Please contact your local Notre Dame Club or a Notre Dame alumni group for more information on how to become an admissions volunteer in your area. They should then contact one of our staff listed below to begin the volunteer registration process.
